2010-2011 Participating Researcher. Lead photography workshops with student researchers to create a visual database of images of the Villaggio Supermall, focusing on the themes of consumerism and the changing social spaces in Qatar.

Jan 08-present Qatar National Research Fund Undergraduate Research Experience Program (UREP) Grant: “Constructing Qatar: Tales From the Margins of a Global System.” Participating Researcher. Provide photographic documentation to support and ethnographic study. With six student researchers from Qatar University and WCMC-Q, the project collects life histories from transnational Gulf workers, and transcribes them into third person narratives depicting the experiences of men and women whose voices are rarely heard, and whose stories are rarely told. In doing so, we seek to faithfully capture and compellingly convey to a wider audience the experiences and social context of the people who are actively shaping the future of Qatar. $60,000

Oct 08-present Qatar University Startup Grant Project: “Visualizing the City:
Architectural Modernity in Contemporary Doha.” Co-Principal Investigator: Andrew Gardner, PhD. Create photographic documentation of the urban landscape in Doha, Qatar, to accompany an article for the journal “Visual Anthropology.” $12,318
